Is Alpha Catholic?  YES!!

In 2019, over 5,600 Catholic parishes and organizations around the world ran Alpha with an estimated 310,000 participants.

Many Catholic priests, leaders, and Alpha guests ask the question "Is Alpha Catholic?" A common response you will hear from priests and leaders in Catholic churches is "There is nothing about Alpha that is not Catholic." In fact, the content in the videos is the same for all Christian contexts, there is not a separate Catholic version. Alpha is about being introduced to the person of Christ and making that initial decision to trust and follow him. It is about the Kerygma, the basic message that is the core and heart of our faith. It is the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. This is Christianity and it is Catholic.

There is nothing in ALPHA that isn’t Catholic.  It covers the basics and shows how relevant our faith in Jesus still is.  The proof is in the fruit that it bears and we’ve certainly seen the fruit of it in our parish.”

Answering the Call for the New Evangelization

Alpha is a parish tool for evangelization where everyone is welcome. The same Alpha content is run all over the world, by Christians of all traditions, sharing the good news of Jesus. It is designed to reach the lost, the non believers and to re-evangelize those in the pews who have doubts or do not have a personal relationship with Jesus.

At Divine Renovation, we're seeing parishes around the world come to new life by becoming missional — and in the process, they are seeing their parishes come alive like never before.

Alpha has become a primary tool for evangelization, which aligns with the primary mission of the Church - to evangelize!

"Alpha brings people closer and helps them to find that power which unites. The Alpha experience is not only a means through which one finds true life, but also a way to share the good news of the Living Christ."
